Swapping Sneakers for Thigh-Highs

Those who know me know that my go to footwear are Nikes paired with boyfriend jeans and an oversized tee. While that’s still my favourite look, I’ve been feeling the desire to change it up a little. Cue: thigh-high boots.

One of the great things about thigh-high boots is they’re almost pants—especially on me at 5’2″—and the suede keeps my legs toasty warm as the temperature starts to drop. These bad boys are the Kayla boot from Sam Edelman, which I definitely recommend. The length isn’t too high and I also like the looser shape throughout the calf, as they balance out my hips.

My main concern with wearing thigh-high boots was loosing my relaxed aesthetic and feeling uncomfortable. I love the casual oversized tee dress with a large sweater to downplay the sex appeal of thigh-highs. The few inches of skin above the boot adds just the right amount of sex appeal without going over the top.

To show you how to introduce thigh-highs into your wardrobe, I styled three looks that can be worn at work, out for dinner, or to a casual brunch. These looks can easily take you from day to night, as well; just swap your coat or add a lipstick to transition seamlessly. If you don’t already own a pair of thigh-highs, definitely pick up a pair this season. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
